The Snipe Hunt
Fourth years aren't the only girls to have all the fun. We welcome all our new "First Years" to camp this year. One of our favorite traditions is to welcome these new young girls by participating in a snipe hunt on the second night of camp. While traditionally, this event has been a form of hazing or "scaring" the new campers, we have abandoned these traditions and created a fun night game to include the Youth Camp Leaders and the First Year campers.
First years will be split into 3-4 groups and will compete against each other to collect treasures from snipe nests and return to camp before any of the other competing groups. Each group will be lead by a YCL and will search the surrounding woods and grasses for signs of snipe nests. Once discovering the snipe's nest, the group will collect one treasure, per camper, then continue on to discover all the nests in the area. Once the total number of treasures has been collected, the first team to return to the main cabin will be the "First Year Snipe Champions".
So First Years and Youth Camp Leaders, bring a good pair of shoes and dark clothes to blend into the night. We are excited to have you!
